WACCE in collaboration with the Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) with funding support from the Australian High Commission is implementing a two-year project dubbed ‘Mining4Peace’ focused on building resilience against violent extremism in 10 mining communities in Ghana. The project is being implemented in five regions of Ghana including Savannah, Ashanti, Eastern, Western and Central Regions of Ghana. It is intended at building resilience against violent extremism and conflicts in mining communities. This is a highly innovative and pragmatic approach to addressing the drivers of Violent Extremism and conflicts in vulnerable communities as the project features not just education and awareness creation about the threat, but also provides skills training and start-up kits for participants to kickstart businesses and initiatives in their communities.
